With Dr Stephen Amato
Dr. Stephen Amato is a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Genetics and Metabolism. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, and Laboratory Cytogenetics. Dr. Stephen Amato has spent seven years of bench research in molecular genetics and cell biology and as a physician has been involved in clinical and biochemical genetics for many years. Prior to joining the faculty at UK, Dr. Amato was at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center and the Barrow Neurological Institute and Phoenix Children’s Hospital providing consultation and care of biochemical disorders for the state of Arizona. Dr. Amato was the physician in charge of the newborn screening program for metabolic disorders. He has been involved with organizing genetics services on a state, regional and national level. Dr. Amato been a CAP (College of American Pathology) inspector for Cytogenetics for many years.
