Justin Harville
Volunteer Services Director
Justin will take us into the history of Special Olympics and the vision of one woman who believed and proved that individuals with intellectual disabilities have abilities that far outweigh their disabilities. However , the focus of his presentation will be on the foundation of the program in sports training and competition and progress into the current programs that are leading our movement into the future. The focal point concern will be on the Project Unify and Unified Sports program that builds communities were individuals with and without intellectual disabilities compete and live as one! It is hoped that this presentation will bring to the audience as much information as possible about SOKY’s program and present the many positives that have been proven of individuals disabilities that are active participants.
Justin Harville is a native of Springboro, OH located just south of Dayton. Active from a very young age in sports. He had a passion for the game of soccer where he played through high school and was also a respected official in the Dayton and Midwest Region reaching the Pro farm before leaving to attend college. Justin went on to attend Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY where he played and took on the position of Head Reserve Women’s and Assistant Varsity coach. Justin graduated with a degree in Psychology and Communications and went on to work in the telecommunications field before landing his current position as the Volunteer Services Director for Special Olympics Kentucky. During his 4 years at SOKY he has overseen the Volunteer recruitment and screening, coach education program, athlete leadership program and recently is the database administrator for the state. Justin currently resides in Lexington, KY with his wife Elizabeth his two daughters Leah age 6, Lauren age 4, and two golden retrievers Heidi and Noah both age 3.
