Collin Shepley is a supervisor for special education student teachers and a research assistant in the Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling. He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education Degrees in Special Education at the University of Georgia under the guidance of Dr. David L. Gast.
Mr. Shepley taught elementary and preschool-aged students with social communication delays and challenging behavior in public schools for five years. In addition, he worked as a supervisor in the University of Georgia’s Severe Behavior Clinic overseeing program development and implementation for individuals with autism. Research interests include evaluating research-based interventions in school settings, applications of technology in special education classrooms, parent and teacher training, and systematic instruction.
His talk will provide recommendations for preventing and responding to challenging behavior, as well as information concerning a school’s role in managing challenging behavior. Parents and attendees are encouraged to ask questions throughout the talk.
