The University of Kentucky’s student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) is hosting their 2nd annual “Light It Up Blue!” event. Last year, SCEC made history with this event by lighting up Memorial Hall on UK’s campus, the first building in Kentucky to be lit up blue to show support and awareness for people with Autism.
This year the event will be held on April 2nd at the University’s Taylor Education Building, 597 S. Upper St. Lexington, KY 40506. An info fair will begin at 7:00pm and the ceremony will begin around 8:15pm. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception inside of the building where service providers will provide additional information about their organizations, programs, etc. There will also be a silent auction, LIUB T-shirts, and puzzle piece pins that will be sold. The T-shirts will be sold for $10 and the pins will be sold $1 per pin.
Half of the proceeds will go toward Autism Speaks. We would love to see you all at this event! Please spread the word! 🙂 Additionally, if anyone has any questions, you can contact Emily Thornton, SCEC Vice-President at 502-229-2796 or eth224@g.uky.edu.
