3/25 Using the SIS Scale to Determine Support Services

Donna Pottinger will present information on the Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) and explain how it is being used to determine support for individuals receiving support through the various waivers that are available in KY (Michelle P and Supports for Community Living waiver). Donna Pottinger is one of 16 assessors who have been trained & certified by AAIDD to administer the assessment. In addition, she is one of 3 assessors who provide training on the SIS.

As recommended by the American Association on Intellectual & Development Disabilities (AAIDD) the SIS is “a standardized assessment designed to measure the pattern & intensity of supports an adult with intellectual disabilities requires to be successful in community settings.” AAIDD developed the assessment over a 5 year period from 1998 -2003 in response to changes in how society views individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Come early and meet Ms. Annie Beebe, OTR/L, who has recently opened her pediatric therapy service, Hop, Skip, & a Jump, in Georgetown. Ms Beebe will make a short presentation on the services she will be offering.
